What is this?

Do you wish Yu-Gi-Oh wasn't a card game that sucks? Me too buddy

This game is a roguelike turn-based SRPG, but despite the card-game aesthetics I wouldn't use the "deckbuilder" buzzword (altough doctors might)

Before each duel you spend SOULS (yes I'm soulspoisoned) to summon monsters to your team, and if you win the match you either get more monsters or more souls (so you can summon more monsters). Also more powerful monsters COST more souls to summon, so you need to decide if you want MORE guys or STRONGER guys

The game ends if you win 15 duels (good) or lose 3 duels (bad). Along these duels you will also face 4 randomly selected bosses from your favorite children's card game

But... why?

I made this game as a kind of challenge to myself. I had never worked on a turn-based or even a tile-based game on Godot, and along with learning these two things I wanted to try and finish a game in a single month

I started working on Yu-Gi-Oh 2 in the 1st of january 2024, and in the 30th all the main systems were working, so at least in this aspect I consider this a success (however I kept working on YGO2 after this date, but it was like, testing, balancing, improving the graphics and sounds and things like that)

Also there is a "secret" you might need to "REVEAL" that took some additional time to implement lol (check the Options menu)

The battle BGMs are from the GOATED game Yu-Gi-Oh: The Falsebound Kingdom. Don't talk to me if you havent played it YOU HACK FUCKS!!!!!

But... why??

I love making games and this is kind of a prototype for a bigger game I want to make eventually. I actually learned a lot while working on this so hopefully my next thing will be a lot smoother and cooler

also I'm in school for IT so coding this was some good practice I guess

But... why???

I'm evil, I cannot help the fact I was born fucked up

please give me some money for fucks sake

Super fun game, I wasn't sure at first because I think I crashed the game first try (trying to move and attack at the same time?), but once I got the hang of it, the game was super addicting. I loved seeing old Yugioh monsters pop up and trying to find the best team agaisnt different enemies.

As a Yugioh fan this was delightful, good job and thanks for making this !

thank you friend your are very kind (◡ ‿ ◡ ✿)

sorry for the crash I don't know what I am doing currently and knew even less when I made this game, my next shit is better though I promise it'll be out soon (next 2 months)

and NEVER forget to praise falsebound kingdom FOREVER

(Heck if there was a discord server for this I would join immediately id honestly love to talk to people just about whats good in this prototype and stuff) seriously good work, this is so awesome!

you just fueled my will to live for about 3 years, thank you I love you by the way (✿◡‿◡)

and yes I am working on a follow up that will be out in a few months, although it is based on a different franchise... (I might add yugioh units in your honor though) (I was gonna do it anyways)

thank you....  (ɔ◔‿◔)ɔ ♥

why do the pokemon show up as a black square on the field

A real nostalgic blast! It was fantastic to see old favorite monsters getting a chance to shine and show off their power in new ways. Playing the game brought back vivid memories of dueling with these iconic creatures on the schoolgrounds. I'm really looking forward to see what you do next with this system!

cool game, but i have no idea how each monster atack, is it 2 squares? 1? 3? Does is attack twice? I have no idea, beacause the game does not say, but it's fun. i recomend

hey!! this is an informed design decision based on yugioh 1 (the konami version) basically it is meant to illustrate how the game got so fucked up nobody can figure out how it works anymore

actually it is because I couldnt figure out where to display that info in the UI sorry also thanks for playing ily!!!!

(1 edit) (+1)

no problem, just finished the game, sad that i didn't see many 3 and 4 cost with custom efects, was fun finally being out of the shadow realm

(+1)

also website version crashes every time i check a boss where the monsters would be

hey I think I fixed this!!! try reloading the page or redownloading the game, please let me know if it actually isnt fixed though

(+1)

game is seen as a virus when i try downloading it

this is because I am using your computer to mine bitcoin, thanks!!! (this is a joke)

idk why this is happening I just exported the project through godot, but windows probably doesnt like unsigned applications or something like that

(1 edit) (+1)

On the monster selection screen if i move the cursor to the bottom left tile it gets stuck and locks the game :(

edit: specifically if I try to move the cursor down when it's at the bottom or left when it's already all the way over to the left

hey!! Some people are experiencing this, but I can't figure out what is causing it bc I cant replicate it on my end :((((

for now I added a "reset" for the selector, just press the "CANCEL" button when it freezes and it should unfreeze... I will keeping looking for this bug though and thanks!!

As a former competitive Pro Yugioh 1 player among my friends (bout 2 of them), this game is great, fun and very much addicting

thank you yugioh 1 is thrash though and dumb to play but anyways thanks!!

Perfect game but it doesnt have the perfect card (salamangreat gazelle), so its a 9.9/10

where I come from, duel monsters is a broken, exploitable mess of a game. And I'm about to exploit the hell out of it! 10/10

unfortunately for you this has been fixed, yu-gi-oh 2 is completely balanced.......
